XProtect Interconnect Device License (Milestone part number XPCOMIDL) licenses one remote camera or device that is connected to an XProtect Corporate central site through Milestone Interconnect. Interconnect lets a central Corporate system view, play back and manage video from independent remote XProtect installations (Express+, Professional+, Expert, Corporate), Milestone Husky appliances and supported third-party recorders, without those sites giving up local recording. You need one Interconnect device licence per remote camera you bring into the central site, on top of the central site’s XProtect Corporate Base License.

This is an electronic licence. Nothing ships: the licence is issued against your Milestone software licence code (SLC) and activated in the Management Client. Perpetual XProtect licences include the first year of Milestone Care Plus; keeping Care Plus current gives you version upgrades and full trade-in value when you move to a higher edition.

Do I still need device licences at the remote site?
Yes. The remote site keeps its own edition and device licences. The Interconnect device licence is additional and sits on the central Corporate system.
What is the difference between Interconnect and Federated Architecture?
Federated Architecture links Expert and Corporate sites into one hierarchy with full central management. Interconnect is lighter: it connects any XProtect edition or Husky appliance to a Corporate central site for viewing and retrieval, and it is licensed per camera.
Does it work over cellular or satellite links?
Yes. Video stays at the remote site and only the streams an operator requests are pulled across, so it is well suited to limited bandwidth.
